May-June Pocatello and Soda Springs Pocatello RX 131 pfire

The first burn is located in the Soda Hills area, which is located in the Upper Valley Drainage west of Soda Springs, Idaho.  This burn will consist of 100 acres. 

The second burn will be 31 acres in the Moonlight area, which is located east of Pocatello.  

Fire managers plan on burning these areas starting on May 23 through the first of June, weather permitting. 

The purposes of these burns are to improve quaking aspen and promote mountain shrub regeneration along with elk habitat improvement.

April - May Pocatello Area Papoose Creek 200-300 pfire

The Papoose Creek Fire is a broadcast fire located south of Interstate 15 between the Bannock County Landfill and Inkom, Idaho.

The purpose of the burn is to reintroduce fire onto the landscape to reduce the risk of wildfire and improve wildlife habitat.
