Idaho BLM Twin Falls District Fire and Aviation Program believes in recruiting,

themselves.
The Twin Falls District Fire and Aviation Program consists of the Burley,
Shoshone and Jarbidge Field Office areas and is one of the largest federal
fire programs in the United States. We perform suppression, aviation,
dispatch, education and fuels treatment duties on over 4.3 million acres
of public land in south central Idaho. In an average year, this area experiences
approximately 125 fires, with 80,000 acres burned.
Boundaries extend just into Utah and Nevada on the south, Sun Valley
area to the north, west just beyond Glenns Ferry and east to Craters of
the Moon and Massacre Rocks. Main fire offices are located in Shoshone,
Burley and Twin Falls, with guard stations at Almo, Malta, Rogerson, Juniper
Butte, Kimama, Carey and Bellevue.
Twin Falls District operates 22 heavy engines (4 to 5 person crew each)
and 4 light engines (2 person crew each), along with many returning firefighters
hired each year.
Requirements
• 18 years old by first day of hire
• U.S. citizen
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Pass a fire physical examination
• Pass a physical fitness test (3-mile walk carrying 45 pounds completed
in 45 minutes)
• Random drug test
• Complete three weeks of fire training once hired

Entry level wages $10-11 per hour; minimum 40 hours per week
Overtime an additional 50%; hazard pay an additional 25% when on the fireline

Fire and Aviation average 300 to 400 applicants per year for approximately 30
positions.
