Idaho Falls and Pocatello are the hubs for Eastern Idaho. People as far away as Pinedale, Wyoming come to Idaho Falls to shop. Below are the main population centers near the Forest and BLM Offices. City names listed are interactive and will take you to their Chamber of Commerce web sites.

Idaho Falls: The town is over 51,000 people and has all the amenities one has become accustomed to. It has the standard Home Depot, Lowes, Super Wal-Mart, Applebee’s, Target, Teton Mall, Chilies, Edwards Cinema, and of course Starbucks to name just a few. Eastern Idaho Technical College is also located in Idaho Falls. Idaho State University, University of Idaho and Boise State University have extension classes offered in Idaho Falls.

Rexburg: This city is estimated to be over 22,000 people with BYU-Idaho now a 4-year college.

Pocatello: The city has 32 parks, a Museum of Natural History, the Fort Hall Replica, Swimming Complex, Skate Park and the Pocatello Zoo. The population is estimated to be over 51,000 people, who enjoy all the same amenities as those in Idaho Falls. Idaho State University is located in Pocatello, and Pocatello offers some excellent mountain bike trails and great (but not well-known) backcountry skiing.

Salmon: A small rural community of 3,300 residents nestled in the mountains of Central Idaho, northwest of Idaho Falls. Salmon is a hub for whitewater rafting, hunting and fishing.

Soda Springs: Soda Springs is southeast of Pocatello, surrounded by beautiful Idaho mountains.
