EIIFC is responsible for fire coordination of over 7.5 million acres of public lands, encompassing 21 counties within four states, including Southeastern Idaho, Southern Montana, Western Wyoming and Northern Utah.

Cooperating and contract agencies include:
Idaho State Agencies: (Departments of Lands, Fish & Game, and Corrections)

EIIFC also has 38 Cooperative Agreements with City and Rural fire departments. EIIFC supports 9 ranger stations and 8 BLM guard stations.

Our activities include incident and fire preparedness, suppression of wildfires, prescribed fire, aviation tracking and flight following, administrative and natural disaster coordination and support.

On average, EIIFC fights 132 fires a year. Resources include engines, an air attack base, air attack, helicopters, miscellaneous qualified overhead support personnel, hand crews (20 members each), and camp crews (10 members each).

An Interagency Fire Business Management Team which includes contract and procurement specialist from all agencies was established to facilitate procurement, contracting and payment of equipment and supply. An Interagency Fire Information Team handles external affairs during overload situations.
